Just an Ordinary Life in Japan (003): Plum Wine (2)

Japanese home-made plum wine vol.2
Would you like some?

Hi, it’s Mee-wa!
Today I’d like to introduce how to make Japanese plum wine.

First, we prepare the following things.

Ingredients

Japanese Plum    1 kg
Brandy           1.8 liters
Rock Sugar     750 g

Also, we need an empty four-liter jar, which should be carefully washed and dried beforehand.

Now, the kitchen is full of the fragrance of plum.  This makes me excited!

Directions

1. Wash Japanese plums with running water, and then carefully dry each one of them with cloth or kitchen towels.

2. Remove the stems using toothpicks. At this process, you should be careful not to use bad plums because they may cause mold or go bad in the wine.

3. Put plums and rock sugar into the jar, making layers alternately.

4. Pour brandy into the jar.

5. Leave the jar in a cool and dark place for three months, but you need swing the jar once in a while.

6. We need to wait for about three months or so, until the wine is ready.
