What is XXX like in Japan? (5) -Ramen Quest Vol.1

Ramen can be served fast and eaten fast, and it will also warm your body and heart very quickly.

I am pretty much sure that I am not the only Japanese who would want to go for ramen when it is very cold.

Today, I’d like to show you my favorite ramen shop.

The name of this shop is “Marugen,” one of Japanese ramen shop chains.

The inside is spacious.

I am glad because I am left-handed, and do not have to worry about hitting someone sitting next to me with my left arm while I eat.

You see, most Japanese people are right-handed, and if the ramen counter is not big enough, my left arm can conflict with the right arm of someone sitting next to me, who is eating using his/her right hand.

Anyway, Marugen has big tables, so I do not have to worry about such conflicting problems.

Also, you can help yourself to some toppings or green tea, which are usually placed at the end of each table.

In Japan, you can enjoy various different kinds of soups for ramen, such as soy-sauce based soup, miso (or fermented soy bean) based soup, salt based soup, tonkotsu (or pork-bone) based soup, and so on.

Marugen also has a variety of soups for ramen!

Furthermore, at Marugen ramen shops, there are fascinating side-dish menus such as fried rice, fried chicken, gyoza (or potsticker) , or even ice cream for dessert!

The picture below is the soy-sauce based ramen soup I ordered!!!

This ramen is only 715 Japanese yen with 10% tax included, which is about 6.26 US dollars!
You do not have to leave any tips in restaurants in Japan, so that may be a good deal.

It was excellent with the taste of the soup well soaking into the noodles and the sliced pork!

It had been a long time since I last enjoyed eating out.

Our ordinary lives are gradually back!
